Watch Real Users Fix Friction

Louis DucruetFounder and CEO · Eprezto

One tool I really like when working on website design and optimization is Smartlook. What makes it stand out is that it lets you watch actual recordings of how users interact with your website.

Most analytics tools tell you what happened. Smartlook shows you how it happened. You can literally watch videos of visitors moving through your page, scrolling, hesitating, clicking, or abandoning the process. That level of visibility is extremely valuable because user behavior often tells a very different story from what people say in surveys.

There's a simple analogy I like: if you want to study wild animals, you observe them in the wild, not in a zoo. The same principle applies to user behavior. Instead of asking users what they think about your website, you watch how they actually interact with it.

In practice, we use it to analyze funnel drop-offs. If we see that a large percentage of users leave at a certain step, we go into the recordings and watch what's happening in that moment. Sometimes it's a confusing field, a design element that looks clickable but isn't, or a page that feels too long.

That combination of funnel analytics and session recordings makes it incredibly powerful. It helps you identify real UI and UX friction points and fix them quickly, which ultimately leads to better conversion and a smoother user experience.

Choose All-In-One CMS Offering Insights

Blake SmithMarketing Manager · ClockOn

My favorite website design tool is HubSpot CMS. We chose it because it is more than a simple website builder and functions as a full content management system for our site. Its built-in tracking tools and analytics give detailed views of how content and the user experience are performing, so we can make data-driven decisions without adding extra tools. The platform is integrated and user friendly, and HubSpot’s customer support responds quickly with helpful resources.

Adopt Lightweight Theme for Speed

Jorge ArgotaFounder · Jorge Argota

My favorite website design tool is the Astra theme for WordPress. I choose Astra because it is highly versatile and offers many customization options without needing to touch a line of code. The wide selection of templates makes it easy to create a unique, professional site for artists and bloggers, and it works well with Gutenberg and other block editors. What sets Astra apart for me is its lightweight design and speed optimization, which helps my blog load quickly for visitors.

Collaborate Synchronously Ship Responsive Systems

Shehar YarCEO · Software House

As the CEO of Software House, my favorite website design tool is Figma, and I say this from years of experience leading development teams on hundreds of client projects. What makes Figma stand out is its real-time collaboration feature — our designers and developers work in the same file simultaneously, which has cut our design-to-development handoff time by nearly 40%. The auto-layout functionality is incredibly powerful for creating responsive designs without manually adjusting every breakpoint. We also love the component library system, which lets us build and maintain design systems that stay consistent across large-scale projects. For our clients who need rapid prototyping, Figma's interactive prototype features allow us to present clickable mockups within hours, not days. The fact that it runs entirely in the browser means our remote teams across different time zones can jump in without any installation hassles. After evaluating dozens of tools over the years, Figma consistently delivers the best balance of power, collaboration, and ease of use for professional software development teams.

Convert Mockups to Live Pages

Fahad KhanDigital Marketing Manager · Ubuy Sweden

I rescued our agency's delivery pipeline by switching to Framer after our manual coding process created a massive bottleneck. I transformed the design-to-launch process from 10 days to 2 days because I reduced Pixel-perfect Figma mock translation time which used to take several days into code.

Framer is my go-to design tool because it allows direct Figma imports and offers a designer-first interface which can be used more efficiently than the fixed design of Wix or the steep learning curve of Webflow. I specifically used its AI-assisted layouts to build responsive, high-converting fintech landing pages in hours rather than weeks.

The shift drove a 40% increase in client satisfaction and allowed us to take on more high-ticket microsite projects without adding workforce. In 2026, the most profitable agencies don't just "code"—they use interactive, responsive platforms that turn design directly into live assets.

Prioritize Conversion via Native Experiments

Aaron WhittakerVP of Demand Generation & Marketing · Thrive Internet Marketing Agency

"For landing pages and conversion-focused designs, UNBOUNCE stands out because it's specifically built for CONVERSION OPTIMIZATION rather than general web design. The built-in A/B testing, dynamic text replacement, and conversion tracking make it effortless to test hypotheses and improve performance. One campaign we ran tested five headline variations, and the winning version improved conversions 67% over our initial design—that testing capability is native to Unbounce where other platforms require complex integrations.
The dynamic text replacement feature is particularly powerful—we can create one landing page that customizes headlines and content based on the ad or keyword that brought visitors. Someone searching ""Denver plumber"" sees ""Denver's Trusted Plumbing Service"" while someone searching ""emergency plumber"" sees ""24/7 Emergency Plumbing Response""—all from one page dynamically adapting. This personalization improved our campaign conversion rates 34% without creating dozens of separate pages.
The template library provides CONVERSION-OPTIMIZED starting points based on tested patterns rather than blank canvases requiring design decisions from scratch. Every template incorporates best practices for visual hierarchy, mobile responsiveness, and clear calls-to-action. We can launch effective landing pages in hours instead of days because the templates handle foundational conversion principles while we customize messaging and branding. For agencies running multiple campaigns, Unbounce's focus on conversion over aesthetics consistently delivers better business results than general design tools."

Pursue Clarity Over Complexity

Kristin MarquetFounder & Creative Director · Marquet Media

My favorite website design platform is Squarespace. I like it because it allows you to focus on structure and brand experience rather than getting lost in technical complexity. The layouts are clean, the design system is intuitive, and the Fluid Engine editor makes it easy to control spacing, hierarchy, and visual flow. I can build quickly while still maintaining a polished, editorial look.

What makes it stand out to me is the balance between simplicity and sophistication. It integrates blogging, e-commerce, and SEO into one platform, so entrepreneurs can move fast without sacrificing design integrity. For me, good web design is about clarity and architecture, and Squarespace supports that beautifully.

Iterate Layouts Directly on Website

Peter FranksEditor · No Latency

For practical website work, I still find WordPress surprisingly hard to beat, particularly when paired with a flexible visual builder.

I've used a number of design tools over the years, but the biggest advantage WordPress has is the balance between control and practicality. You can move quickly using visual blocks or builders, but if you want to tweak something more precisely you can still drop into HTML or CSS.

That combination is incredibly useful when you are iterating on design rather than producing a single polished mockup.

For example, on my own sites I often test small layout changes - adjusting hero sections, image containers, typography or spacing. Being able to make those changes directly in the live environment and immediately see the result is far more valuable than a purely theoretical design tool.

A lot of design software is excellent for creating beautiful mockups. The challenge comes when you actually have to turn those designs into a functioning website. WordPress sits in the middle of that process, which is why it remains so widely used.

The standout feature, ultimately, is flexibility. You can start simple, but the platform doesn't limit you as your design ideas evolve.

Update Content Quickly for Service Needs

Dimitar DechevCEO · Super Brothers Plumbing Heating & Air

Hi, As a service contractor, my favorite website platforms are the ones that let us make updates quickly without depending on a developer for every small change. In our industry, information changes often — service offerings, availability, licensing details, safety updates — and being able to adjust those in real time matters.
The platform also needs to be clean and mobile-friendly. Most homeowners searching for plumbing repairs, HVAC service, or electrical upgrades are doing it from their phones, often in urgent situations. Clear navigation, fast loading pages, and straightforward contact options make a bigger difference than visual effects.
I also value platforms that integrate easily with call tracking, analytics, and our CRM system. For a service business, it's important to connect website inquiries to actual booked jobs so we understand what's working operationally.
Ultimately, the best website tool is one that supports clarity, speed, and reliability — not just design trends — and makes it easy for homeowners to find the information they need and schedule service without friction.

Integrate Creative Cloud for Rich Prototypes

Marc BishopDirector · Wytlabs

We find Adobe XD indispensable when we need deep integration with broader Adobe Creative Cloud workflows and high fidelity prototyping. Its design tools feel intuitive for UI work while linking seamlessly to Photoshop and Illustrator assets for richer visual expression. XD's auto-animation and voice trigger features let us prototype experiences that feel closer to real product interactions. This reduces ambiguity during client reviews and aligns expectations early in the project lifecycle.

What sets Adobe XD apart is its balance between expressive design control and usability for cross-functional teams. Repeat grids, responsive resize, and design systems support help maintain consistency across screens. Collaboration links and shared libraries make version management smoother. For projects where visual nuance and strategic iteration matter, these features make the tool a standout in our stack.

Centralize Workflows in One Workspace

Sahil GandhiBrand Strategist · Brand Professor

Notion is the favourite website tool, and it earns that spot. Full workspace for brand strategy, client portals, and project management. Calling it a note app is like calling a chef's kitchen a microwave.
Linked databases and templates do the heavy lifting. One click spins up a fully customised project workspace. That saves around 8 to 10 hours every month, which adds up fast.
Founders get their own client portal. Brand frameworks, feedback loops, deliverables, all visible in real time. No chasing updates over email.
The trade-offs are real. Large workspaces slow down. New clients sometimes need hand-holding during onboarding. Worth it regardless.

Accelerate Delivery Through Astro Plus AI

Patrick HammondCTO · Atomic Robot

I know that's not the typical Figma or Webflow answer, but hear me out.

Astro gives you incredible site performance out of the box. Fast load times and a structure that's approachable enough that developers, designers, and marketers can all be productive in it quickly. That matters because when your marketing and design teams can actually work in the site without waiting on engineering for every change, things move much faster.

Where it gets interesting is pairing it with Claude Code, an AI-powered development assistant. We use it for everything. Content checking and refinement. SEO analysis and optimization. We've even built custom AI-powered workflows right into our process. Need to find which blog posts are underperforming on search without digging into analytics? You get an answer in seconds. Need to refine a post and generate a LinkedIn post to promote it? Another command. It understands your content, the patterns in your site, your brand, and helps you move.

What makes this combination work is that you go from "I have an idea" to "it's live" way faster than you'd expect. Astro gives you the performance and experience. Claude Code gives you the speed. And a small team can scale and sprint like a big one.

Combine Visual Freedom and Structured Control

Ydette MacaraegMarketing coordinator · Santa Cruz Properties

A website design tool that many professionals return to consistently is Webflow. What makes it stand out is the balance it creates between visual design freedom and structured development control. Designers can build complex layouts visually while still working with clean HTML and CSS behind the scenes. That means a site can look highly customized without relying heavily on developers for every adjustment. The platform also includes responsive design controls that allow teams to see how pages appear across desktop, tablet, and mobile views while they are building them. For businesses that rely on search visibility, the built in content management system and straightforward SEO settings make it easier to organize service pages, metadata, and structured content without needing multiple plugins.

That combination becomes especially valuable for organizations that regularly update listings, resources, or informational pages. Real estate related businesses often need to present land listings, maps, educational content, and community information in a way that is easy to navigate. Companies such as Santa Cruz Properties benefit from platforms that allow marketing teams to update property information or publish new content without rebuilding the entire site each time. Webflow's visual editing system makes those updates faster while still maintaining design consistency across the website. The result is a platform that supports both creative presentation and practical day to day website management.

Dominate Technical SEO with Flexibility

Wayne LowryMarketing coordinator · Local SEO Boost

WordPress is still my go-to website design tool, and it is not even close. I have tried Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, and a handful of others, but I keep coming back to WordPress for every client project at Scale By SEO.

The feature that makes it stand out is the combination of flexibility and SEO control that no other platform matches. With WordPress, I have complete control over URL structures, meta data, schema markup, site speed optimization, and server-side configurations. When you are building websites where organic search performance is the primary goal, these technical details matter enormously.

The plugin ecosystem is another major differentiator. Tools like Yoast or Rank Math for SEO, WP Rocket for caching and performance, and Advanced Custom Fields for creating structured content types give you enterprise-level capabilities without enterprise-level costs. I can build a site that loads in under two seconds, has perfect technical SEO, and gives the client a content management experience they can actually use without calling me every time they want to update a page.

What most people overlook about WordPress is how well it handles content at scale. When a client needs to publish hundreds of pages, create complex taxonomies, or build programmatic landing pages for local SEO, WordPress handles it without breaking. I have built sites with over 5,000 pages that still perform beautifully because WordPress gives you the tools to manage that volume effectively.

The learning curve is real, and I understand why people choose simpler platforms for basic sites. But if you are building a website that needs to perform in search, generate leads, and scale over time, nothing gives you more control than WordPress. The sites we build on WordPress consistently outperform sites on other platforms in organic search because we can optimize every layer of the stack.

Streamline Client Edits and Rollouts

Callum GracieFounder · Otto Media

On a Monday morning with five client edits queued, I reach for Duda. Its client dashboard and permissions let me give clients 'content mode' access without letting them break the layout. The white label setup and reusable sections mean I can build once, then roll changes out fast across multiple sites. I also like the built-in personalisation triggers and AI help for copy and SEO, because they cut the back-and-forth before launch.

Create Pixel-Perfect UI Fast

Gary PetersCo-Founder & CEO · PupPilot

My favorite design tool is Sketch. I've used it across multiple companies and it's stayed in my stack because it does one thing extremely well — it lets you go from idea to high-fidelity mockup fast without a bunch of bloat getting in the way.
At PupPilot, we use Sketch for everything from landing page designs to product UI before anything hits development. What makes it stand out is how lightweight and focused it is compared to tools that try to be everything at once. The symbol and component system keeps our design language consistent across projects without a lot of overhead, and the plugin ecosystem fills in the gaps exactly where you need them.
For a startup where speed matters, Sketch hits the sweet spot — powerful enough for real design work, simple enough that you're not fighting the tool. That's what keeps me coming back to it.

Unblock Handoff for Front-End Teams

Amit AgrawalFounder & COO · Developers.dev

The way designers and developers pass designs from the design stage to the development stage has drastically changed because of Figma. When working in a high velocity engineering environment, the main bottleneck isn't the design itself, rather it is translating the design into functional and clean code. Because of the collaborative nature of Figma, engineers can check the underlying logic for a layout before a line of CSS code is written.

The thing that sets Figma apart from other tools is Development Mode. This mode gives developers the ability to review layers, copy CSS properties, and see the relationships between components and the actual coding that exists without using a hand-off tool. This level of transparency removes the "guessing game" that previously plagued front-end development, so that the user receives what was originally designed.

At developers.dev, we've noticed the overall shift of the industry toward this tool has been driven by the use of Figma by professional UI/UX teams, which helps scale distributed engineering teams. By allowing designers and developers to work in the same environment, we have seen reduced rework, and a quicker time to delivery.

Building software is a team-oriented sport. Friction between creative vision and technical execution is a major contributor to lost project momentum. Selecting tools that facilitate the hand off of work is not just an aesthetic decision; it is a way to remain competitive and grow within a fast-paced marketplace.

Unite Feedback and No-Code Ownership

Ankit SharmaUI/UX Designer · Qubit Capital

Figma for design, Webflow for build. That combination replaced our need for a front-end developer on most projects. Figma because the collaboration features let non-designers give feedback directly on the design file instead of writing paragraphs describing what they want changed. Webflow because the visual builder is good enough that our marketing team can update pages without filing tickets. The feature that matters most to me is responsive design preview. You can see desktop, tablet, and mobile simultaneously. Half our site traffic comes from phones and catching layout issues before publishing saves hours of post-launch fixes. The trade-off is learning curve. Webflow has a steep one for anyone who has never thought about how websites work technically.

Publish Founder-Grade Sites Without Middlemen

Nikhil PaiFounder · Chronicle Technologies

My go-to is Framer, and after building two companies from the ground up, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

When you're bootstrapped, you don't have the luxury of waiting on a developer every time you need to update a landing page or test a new message. At Hearth and again at Chronicle Legal, I needed a tool that let me move fast without sacrificing how the final product looked. Framer does that. It sits in the space between a design tool and a real web builder, so what you design is actually what goes live - no translation layer, no back-and-forth.

Most founders waste weeks in handoff cycles between designers and developers for changes that should take an afternoon. Framer cuts that entirely. In my experience, the best design tool isn't always the most powerful one; it's the one that removes the most friction between your idea and what the customer actually sees.

Drive Local Leads with Clear Structure

Tyler HennOwner · The Roofer Finder

My favorite website design tool is Figma. I use it because it helps me plan and build designs where every section has a clear purpose and supports the goals I set before designing. In Figma I can craft hero sections that answer what the business does, where it is, and how to contact them, including visible tap-to-call and a simple form. I also use it to create card-style service blocks, place CTAs, and design sticky mobile elements so the tap-to-call button stays visible on phones. That focus on clarity and conversion is why it stands out for the local business websites I build.

Deliver Polished Assets at PR Pace

Lizaveta PiaskovaPR Manager · Innowise

Canva is the tool I use most frequently as a PR Manager at Innowise to quickly wrap up content and create event-driven landing pages.

In the PR industry, speed is frequently more important than intricate coding. Canva's Magic Studio ecosystem—AI tools that let us quickly extend photo backgrounds or modify images for various platforms—is what sets it apart for us.

The Brand Kit is amazing. Anyone on the team can create a polished press kit or campaign page without having to wait in line for the design department because we have access to all of Innowise's fonts and logos. It's the ideal tool for transforming an unpolished concept into a polished visual "yesterday."

Build Smarter PDPs Grow Global Commerce

Ross AllchornFounder of SCF · ShopCreatify

I'll say straight up that this is a highly biased opinion because I live and breathe this tool every day. But I am unapologetic in my respect and awe for Shopify. It's my favorite website design platform and has been for over a decade. It was my favourite when I was a digital marketer, and it's my favourite as an ecommerce web developer now. There are too many features to list that prove my point but I'll try focus on just a few. First, its Metaobjects feature. Metaobjects let me dynamically connect variants and accessories, enabling us to build single, intelligent product detail pages (PDPs) as the core product architecture. This sort of capability, combined with a storefront redesign for visual hierarchy, lets the brand's photography drive conversions. In a recent project for a 50-year-old heritage brand, we saw sales rise 25%, and Lighthouse performance scores improved nearly 14% within seven weeks without changing marketing or ad spend. I also think that Shopify already sees how much it can help cross-border shipping and compliance. Their attention to how a website can actually help supply chain and logistics is unparalleled. No other website building tool is putting that level of effort and resources into helping companies globally expand.

Win Regional Search with Plugins

Marcos De AndradeFounder & Owner · Green Planet Cleaning Services

WordPress is my go-to, hands down. As a service business owner running Green Planet Cleaning Services, I needed a platform that could handle local SEO, booking integration, and content marketing all in one place. What sets WordPress apart is the plugin ecosystem—I can add schema markup for local search, integrate contact forms, manage blog content for SEO, and customize every page without needing a developer on speed dial. The flexibility to scale from a simple site to a full marketing hub is unmatched, and the SEO capabilities with plugins like Yoast or Rank Math give small businesses a real competitive edge against larger competitors in local search results.
